Is it safe to send my credit card information online?
We have strived to make our web site the safest online shopping experience possible. You credit card number and other personal information are sent to us is "encoded." In the unlikely event that the it is intercepted, it would be virtually impossible to read. Your personal information, such as name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address are protected in the same way. Furthermore, we do not keep your credit card number on file.
Will I receive unwanted e-mail if I purchase products from Guggisberg Cheese?
Guggisberg's policy is to never, ever sell client information. We do offer a service where we e-mail recipes, a newsletter, and sale information to our customers, but you must first give us permission to send this information to you.
Can I have cheese shipped in the summer months?
We don't recommend shipping cheese when the temperature is over 80 degrees We are currently working on ways to improve our shipping methods for the warmer months.
May I stop in for a visit while in Holmes County?
You are welcome to stop in and visit our onsite store where you can pick up your Guggisberg favorites. For your convenience there are viewing windows where you may watch our cheese makers at work. There is also an onsite video that gives you a view of the overall cheese making process.
Can I freeze cheese?
Yes you can by wrapping the cheese securely with plastic wrap. If you like, you may add extra protection by adding a layer of newspaper. When you are ready to use the cheese, let if thaw slowly in the refrigerator. Freezing cheddar cheese and Swiss cheese is not recommended. These cheeses may show cracks or get crumbly. You may freeze Baby Swiss cheese.
Can a travel a long distance with my cheese?
Yes, if you have air conditioning and you keep the cheese upfront where it is cool. Remember, you can keep your cheese at room temperature for several days, but when traveling during hot weather, it is advisable to use a cooler.
My cheese is puffy. What does this mean?
If your cheese becomes puffy, this occurs because the cultures that produced the holes have become more active and the holes are growing larger. Once you cut your wheel of cheese the puffiness should disappear. The puffiness should not affect the taste of your cheese.
What do I do if there is mold on my cheese?
Some cheese like Swiss and Colby develop mold if exposed to air, whether at room temperture or in refrigerator. The mold may be cut away and eaten without affecting the remainder of the cheese.
How is processed cheese different from natural cheese?
Processed cheese is a product of ground up cheddar cheeses along with other added ingredients to enhance flavor and also allows for easier melting. Natural cheese is made from milk that is received from dairy farms. Rennets and Cultures are added to the milk.
How can I track my order?
We email you the tracking numbers on your shipment. Please supply your email address when ordering online or when calling us to place your order.
How can I pay for my orders?
We accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover credit cards. We also accept Money Orders and personal checks. We must have Money Orders in house before shipping your cheese. If you send a personal check, we wait 10 business days for your check to clear prior to shipping your order.
How much will my shipping charges be?
Shipping charges are based on the State you live in and by the weight of the package. The total cost for shipping will be displayed once you place your order as well as other shipping options for faster delivery. We offer Ground and Air UPS.
